Guide to Printing Homeschooling Materials on Wide Format Inkjets

Homeschooling projects are very effective tools in the education of homeschooled children. Tangible homeschool materials are good aids to learning as these can effectively capture the child’s attention and consequently fuel the desire for learning. These can now be easily produced at home using your computer and inkjet printer.

To print large sized homeschool materials, wide inkjet color printers may be used. A wide inkjet printer such as the HP Officejet 7000 can print on several media sizes of up to 3.5 x 5 inches to 13 x 44 inches while standard inkjets can only accommodate a limited array of media sizes.

The article recommends a few homeschooling projects you can print on wide inkjet color printers. Moreover, a step by step process to printing is provided below.

Recommended Homeschooling Projects

  • Image of the Jungle. The printed visual aid will allow the homeschooled child to take a colorful glimpse of the world’s biodiversity. The child can name each animal in the photo.
  • Map of the USA. The map will help the child acquire a geographical overview of the US and its territories. To make learning more fun and effective, allow the child to post photos of family members     or relatives who reside in a particular state. This sharpens the photographic memory of the homeschooled child.
  • Food Chart. The food chart will constantly remind the child about the importance of nutrition that can be obtained from eating healthy foods. A food pyramid will guide both the homeschooling parents     and child in balancing their dietary intake.

5.    Pull out the extension of the output tray.

Changing Print Settings:

1.      Open the file you want to print.

2.      On the File menu, click Print. A print dialogue box will appear.

3.      Click Setup. Then click the Feature’s tab.

4.      From the Size drop-down list, select media size. If you do not see the preferred media size, select Custom media size from the drop-down list.

5.      Key in dimensions and type a name for it.

6.      Under the Width and Height boxes, type the dimension. Click Save, then OK.

Printing:

1.      Open the print dialogue box again; select the new custom size media.

2.      Select Advanced Glossy Photo Paper from the paper type drop-down box.

3.      To print the homeschool material, click OK.

Printed homeschool materials still work best over teaching materials that can be viewed from the PC. Study shows that reading from a computer monitor increases eye strain and fatigue to therefore affect the learning comprehension of the homeschooled child. With the help of wide inkjet color printers, learning can be diverted to a more sensible medium.
